When Are You?
Time is one of those things we deal with and fail to deal with every day. Douglas Gordon's current exhibition (reg. req.) at MoMA approaches the relationship between mechanical and organic time in interesting ways. Even if, like me, you cannot make it to the exhibition, this NYT article may start to bend your perception as you read it. I suddenly started pondering the eight hour drive to NYC, the two hour flight, the gazillion hour walk, the instantaneity of reading about it on the internet. Here in Kingston Ontario, we receive the world through this Doppler effect. Maybe the distance to places like New York isn't as important as the time it takes to get there and the travel's effects on the brain and body. Oh to be at the centre of things.
